Custom TMJ orthotics (sometimes called occlusal splints, bite appliances, or TMJ orthotics) are custom made devices worn in the mouth either during the day and/or at night. They are designed to:

  • Guide and stabilize the jaw joints (TMJs)
  • Relieve pressure on muscles and ligaments of the jaw
  • Correct bite misalignment and improve joint function
  • Reduce nocturnal jaw clenching or grinding (bruxism)Unlike body or foot orthoses, these are focused exclusively on the craniofacial region—and are tailored to your dental and skeletal structure.
